IP Location Lookup
Enter any IP address to get country, city, ISP ASN, timezone and IP type.
What this lookup tells you
An IP lookup returns far more than "which city". Geolocation (country / region / city) is estimated from registry data on address ranges; the ASN identifies which operator or organization owns the network — for example AS4134 is China Telecom. The IP type answers whether this is a home broadband user, a datacenter server or mobile traffic.
Where the data comes from
IP location data comes from public geolocation databases such as MaxMind GeoLite2, deployed locally on our servers and updated daily. Accuracy is city-level (about 70–90%): registries record the operator address, not your physical location, and mobile traffic exits through provincial gateways. This is an inherent limit of every GeoIP service.
IP type: the field risk engines care about most
Residential means ordinary home broadband — highest trust. Datacenter (hosting) means a cloud server: real people rarely browse from one, so risk engines treat datacenter traffic as high risk — nine out of ten cheap proxies are datacenter IPs. Mobile is carrier-grade NAT shared by hundreds of users, ironically the hardest to track individually.

Frequently asked questions
Why is the city different from where I actually am?
IP geolocation records the registered location of the operator range, not your physical position. Mobile traffic exits through provincial gateways and home broadband ranges may be registered in a neighboring city. City-level accuracy of 70–90% is the natural limit of GeoIP data.
What is an ASN and why does it matter?
An ASN (Autonomous System Number) identifies each independent network on the internet. The ASN tells you which operator or organization an IP belongs to — datacenter IPs usually belong to cloud providers, which is the most direct signal for "is this a proxy".
Can I look up IPv6 addresses too?
Yes. The same GeoLite2 IPv6 data is used. Some obscure ranges may lack city-level data, but country and ASN information is generally complete.
Are lookups recorded?
Lookups run against the IP database deployed locally on our servers — no third-party API is involved and queried IPs are never submitted to external services.
