Speed Test

Measure real download / upload throughput and latency between your browser and our server.

Real transfer speed between your browser and our server — affected by distance and carrier peering

How the test works

Download and upload are measured by streaming random data over HTTP between your browser and our server, avoiding browser cache. Latency is measured with small requests. The result is the real route between you and our Singapore datacenter.

Why results differ from other speed tests

Every speed test measures a route to its own server. Distance and peering dominate: a test to a nearby domestic server will always beat a cross-border route. For VPN / proxy users, the relevant number is the route through the tunnel — which is exactly what this test shows when your proxy is on.

Using it to verify your proxy

Turn the proxy on, run the test, and compare with direct. Throughput dropping to 10-20% of direct usually means a overloaded proxy node; high latency with good throughput is normal for far exit nodes.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my speed lower than my ISP plan?

The test measures the route to our server only. Wi-Fi, proxy nodes, international peering and congestion at peak hours all cap real throughput. Run it several times at different hours for a fair picture.

Is this a substitute for full speed tests?

It is a lightweight HTTP-based test — accurate for relative comparisons (direct vs proxy) though methods differ from iperf-style tests.

Does the test consume a lot of data?

A few tens of MB per run by design, enough for stable measurement on broadband connections. Mobile users on metered plans should keep this in mind.
